Thursday: The Innocent Nightingale

Late Night/Early Morning -

“Rachel, wake up,” Gretchen said in a frenzied whisper as she shook her. “Put some clothes on. There’s something wrong.”

“Huh?” Rachel mumbled with grogginess, blinking at the darkness of their bedroom. “What time is it?”

“It’s 2:45 in the morning. There’s something wrong,” Gretchen replied.

“What? What’s wrong?” Rachel said, still trying to clear out her grogginess as she turned the bedside lamp on and searched for her night robe.

“Listen!” Gretchen exclaimed with another frenzied whisper.

Rachel got to her feet and stood still. Some of the most horrible yacking noises imaginable could be heard coming from Olivia and Ben’s bedroom.

“I don’t know, Gretch. There may not be anything wrong. Maybe this is another one of the kinky things they do,” Rachel said, uncertain as to whether they should interrupt their hosts to check on them.

“This doesn’t sound like some sort of Spank me, Mommy thing,” Gretchen stated.

Then they heard the opening of the door that connected Olivia & ben’s bedroom to the bathroom, following by stumbling some noises.

“Just a few more steps. It’s okay. You’ll make it,” Olivia whispered to him, trying to be quiet as to not awaken Rachel and Gretchen.

Rachel walked over to the door that connected their bedroom to the bathroom and opened it slowly.

“Angel, what’s wrong?” Rachel said to Olivia as she and Gretchen walked in to see Ben laying in the bathtub but clinging to its side so he could hold his head over the toilet. “Oh my God!”

“What happened?” Gretchen asked with concern as she sat on the edge of the tub and gently rubbed Ben’s naked back.

“I’m not sure,” Olivia said with a teary panic in her eyes.

“Here, let me have him,” Rachel said, taking hold of the sides of Ben’s head to keep him steady over the toilet. “You look exhausted. Relax for a minute. Did he say what was wrong before he started throwing up like this?”

“No,” Olivia stated, thinking back to recall if he had mentioned anything at all. “He did say that he was feeling some stomach pain when we got back here tonight.”

“What did you guys have for dinner?” Gretchen asked as Ben threw up a bit more into the toilet.

Rachel and Gretchen leaned back a bit from the pungent smell.

“We went to a seafood restaurant,” Olivia answered.

“And what did he eat?” Rachel asked, peaking cautiously into the toilet.

“He had fish,” Olivia replied as the light bulb turned on in her head. “Oh my.”
